Context

In the venture capital ecosystem, relationships are everything. Each fund manager cultivates a network of founders, co-investors, advisors, and successful entrepreneurs. These connections are the vital source of deal flow and competitive advantage. Yet most funds managed these precious relationships in generic systems never designed for the specific needs of venture capital.


Our vision was to create a CRM that intrinsically understands investment dynamics: the difference between a founder, an LP, an advisor; the importance of tracking introductions and referrals; the need to synchronize contacts with deals and portfolio companies.

Problem & objectives

Teams used traditional CRMs like Salesforce that forced ill-fitting workflows, or worse, spreadsheets where information quickly became outdated and unusable. Crucial questions remained unanswered: Who knows this company in our network? When did we last speak to this founder? Who introduced us to this deal?


Networking was inefficient: two partners from the same fund could approach the same founder unknowingly, creating embarrassing situations and undermining the fund's reputation.


Our objectives:

  • Create a CRM specifically designed for venture capital dynamics

  • Make all relationship history between the fund and each contact visible

  • Automatically connect contacts to relevant deals, companies, and events

  • Facilitate collaboration and avoid duplicates in networking

Solution description

Intelligent Relational Architecture

We designed a system where contacts are never isolated but always connected to their context: current and past companies, associated deals, other contacts in their network. When you view a founder's profile, you immediately see all their companies, deals where you met them, other founders they know.


The system automatically detects connections: if you add a company to your pipeline and the founder is already in your CRM, the connection is made instantly. If a partner mentions meeting a founder at an event, that contact and event are automatically linked.


Timeline & Interaction History

For each contact, we created a complete timeline of all interactions: meetings, emails, calls, notes, introductions. This institutional memory is crucial when a new deal arrives and you wonder 'Do we already know this founder?'

The innovation was in automatic capture: integration with Gmail and Calendar to automatically log interactions, without manual effort. The system understands that a meeting with 'john@startup.com' should be added to John's timeline and his startup's timeline.


Network Mapping & Warm Intros

We developed a 'network mapping' feature that visualizes connections between people: Who can introduce us to this founder? Who in our portfolio knows this company? The system automatically suggests the best paths to get a warm intro.


To facilitate introduction requests, we created a one-click workflow: select the contact you want to meet, choose the person who can introduce, and the system generates a professional email template with all relevant context. Introductions that took 20 minutes now take 30 seconds.
